Position Description: The successful candidate will be expected to: a) establish a high-caliber research line that collaborates with other relevant areas across URI, such as the George & Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience, focusing on brain/cognition and/or physiological mechanisms as it to relates to physical activity, health behaviors and behavior change; b) teach in the undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) Kinesiology program; c) advise students, d) participate in service activities at the university, college, and department levels along with service to the profession, and e) collaborate with researchers across the university. The hired faculty member will be expected to successfully engage students in high- caliber research related to the job description, and also utilize a variety of innovative pedagogical approaches, including online course delivery.

The successful candidate would also be welcome and encouraged to apply for a formal affiliation with the Ryan Institute, which could include membership in the Ryan Faculty if the individual’s research aligned with the mission and vision of the Institute.

Qualifications: • Earned doctorate in Biobehavioral, Neuroscience, Kinesiology, Psychology, or closely related area, conferred by September 1, 2018 • Demonstrated ability to establish a research program related to the job description • Demonstrated ability to publish in journals • Demonstrated teaching experience in the physiological mechanisms of physical activity, behavior change and/or initiation, personalization and maintenance of behavior change • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups

Preferred Qualifications • Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship • Demonstrated ability to seek and/or secure external funding • Demonstrated ability to participate in collaborative research
