Position Description: Serves as a Public Health Informatics Specialist responsible for developing reports for key performance indicators, volume drivers, and other performance metrics of health data for state and local stakeholders; collaborates with stakeholders to define data needs and identify gaps in current capabilities; and elicits requirements. Identifies, imports, cleans, transforms, validates data with the purpose of understanding, interpreting/pinpointing trends or patterns, or making conclusions from the data for decision making and reporting purposes. Uses a proactive approach to driving a high level of quality and accuracy by identifying new opportunities for process improvement and opportunities for coaching and training and other recommendations for best practices to maintain data accuracy and integrity. This position will also serve as the back- up to the Maven Data Manager and assists in the modification and maintenance of SODA managed data systems and data management processes; monitor data systems to identify and assess disruptions to operations; and ensure standardized data are leveraged for data reuse and workflow automation to maximize use of data for information tracking, statistical analyses and reporting. Works collaboratively with the SODAData Administration and Informatics (DAI) team, as well as other data management staff, in performing technical and administrative functions as it relates to SODA managed data systems to ensure responsive and effective data support. Manages and maintains the confidentiality and security of the data and databases at all times.

Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of epidemiologic and informatics methodologies, report development and maintenance strategies and concepts and data quality assurance (QA) techniques required. Strong analytical and data management skills, including experience with SQL Server (2008 or higher) writing SQL code and using ArcGIS, Tableau or other data visualization/reporting software required. Ability to design, develop, test and promote code and reports to production reporting environment; employ coding techniques that optimize readability and maintainability of code including use of comments detailing the goal/purpose; adhere to best programming practices to ensure code does not cause performance issues; collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy; and utilize data in reporting environments using SQL Server Management Studio (2008 or higher), Visual Studio, SSRS, and SSIS. Experience developing and implementing data solutions that ensure confidentiality, security, and data integrity while maximizing available information for internal and public access.
