Position Description: The Division of Public Health Information Dissemination (DPHID) focuses on creating and promoting quality, timely and useful cross-cutting scientific products and services in order to strengthen the science of public health, and ultimately to improve public health decision-making. One of DPHID's main projects is the Community Guide. The Community Guide is an essential evidence-based resource for identifying what works in public health, and it provides evidence-based recommendations about public health programs, services and policies to improve health and promote safety.

The participant may have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities:

•Conducting systematic reviews related to community-wide health promotion and disease prevention interventions.

•Identifying, screening, appraising and analyzing the literature on evidence available for these interventions.

•Communicating the results of these reviews and other related reviews in diverse formats to diverse audiences.

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for four years, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

Qualifications: •A Master’s or Doctoral degree in public health, psychology, economics or a related discipline received within the last five years.

•Ability to evaluate study design and quality of implementation, and in evidence- based research methods is desired.

•Familiarity in the processes of systematic reviews, critical assessment of scientific literature, and/or program evaluation is preferred.

•Familiarity with conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses of health-related topics.

•Familiarity with critically evaluating scientific literature.

•Experience in communicating findings through presentations and through peer- reviewed manuscripts.

•Comfortable level of involvement with diverse teams.
