Position Description: The Illinois Department of Public Health seeks a Public Service Administrator, Option 6G within the Office of Preparedness and Response/Division of Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) and Highway Safety who will serve as Section Chief of the Ambulance, Education and Licensing Section; manage all aspects of ambulance and specialized EMS vehicle compliance program and testing, licensing and education of pre-hospital personnel; execute ambulance inspection procedures across the state; coordinate and implement education requirements of the professional licenses and certifications issued by the Division. The selected candidate serves as supervisor.

Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Registered Nursing, Epidemiology, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, Environmental or Physical Sciences or a related field plus four years of professional experience related to disaster preparedness or emergency response, communications and coordination, emergency medical services/response bio-terrorism or weapons of mass destruction. Requires experience with training and education of EMT’s, MD’s, nurses, on weapons of mass destruction. Requires a comprehensive knowledge of EMS and EMS systems in Illinois, and service objectives, activities and operational systems. Requires the ability to travel/valid driver’s license. Requires the physical ability to climb in and out of a variety of emergency services vehicles including ambulances, helicopters, fixed wing and water craft. Excellent computer skills and work experience in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Power-point, Access, Outlook, is highly desirable.
