Position Description: Position: Solutions Through Innovative Technology (STI) is looking for a Biostatistician to provide advanced statistical and analytical epidemiology consultative support to the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) Epidemiology Consult Service Division. (An Epidemiologist with strong bio-statistical and data management skills will be considered)

Essential Job Functions: • Strong analytical skills in biostatistics, data management, public health, epidemiological study design, and execution. • Serve as a subject matter expert in biostatistics, epidemiology, data analytics, and data management. • Statistical support includes projects which cover comprehensive areas of medical care and health surveillance including but not limited to infectious disease, chronic disease and lifestyle, occupational health exposures and associated health events, the mortality registry, suicide events, behavioral health registries, outbreak investigations, and congressional inquiries. • Retrieve and manage large datasets (millions of patient records) from repositories and link disparate health information data, personnel/demographic records, deployment-related records, health surveillance registries, and other military- related data into useable formats for end users. • Design, formulate, and conduct, statistical and epidemiological studies to evaluate exposure risks and health outcomes affecting the USAF beneficiary population. • Ensure data quality, completeness, and integrity. • Establish relationships between new data and existing data sets, map the data between data elements, establish data storage architecture requirements, and create a comprehensive data dictionary. • Serve as the point of contact for users requesting data and/or data-related support services. (e.g. data analysis, data interpretation, report generation) • Assist in prioritizing research areas; determine which health issues among AF members require future study. • Create research protocols for prioritized research areas and submit to the IRB. • Identify and recommend improvements for existing data collection/management and design requirements/protocols. • Develop data management protocols. • Prepare and critically reviews reports, manuscripts, research, external grant proposals, and memoranda of agreements. • Present results of studies or investigations through briefings, technical reports, and publication into scientific journals. • Document code used to generate reports.

Qualifications: Education/Requirements: • A Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related skill of study. • A strong working knowledge of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Public health. • A minimum of 2 years of experience preferred. (Consideration will be given to new graduates.) • Proficient in the following software programs: Microsoft Office and at least one of the following statistical packages-SAS, SPSS, or STATA. • Must be a US Citizen. • Must be able to pass a Government Background Check.
