Position Description: The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Georgia seeks to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Health Communication at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2018. The successful candidate will examine the role of communication in health disparities. We seek a quantitative or qualitative social scientist who studies health disparities at the interpersonal, community or campaign level. The successful candidate will contribute to our teaching mission by offering classes in health communication, culture, and disparities at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Communication or a related field is required by the time of appointment. Demonstrated research and teaching competence is required. The potential to seek external funding is essential.

Organization Description: The department (www.comm.uga.edu) has a competitive and nationally ranked M.A. and Ph.D. program and an active research faculty with a record of extramural funding, scholarly publication, and teaching excellence. UGA has a Center for Health & Risk Communication, a College of Public Health (http://www.publichealth.uga.edu/), an Institute for Social and Behavioral Research (https://oibr.uga.edu/), and a campus of the Medical College of Georgia (http://medicalpartnership.usg.edu/about/arti cle/about_us).
