Position Description: To be considered for this position applicants must apply via Interfolio:  http://apply.interfolio.com/43885 Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus in Oxford, Georgia, Oxford College invites applications for an: Assistant Professor of Anthropology, tenure-track. The successful candidate will be an associated member of Emory College’s Center for the Study of Human Health and Oxford College’s liaison to that program. (http://s165322.gridserver.com). The ordinary teaching load is three courses per semester, including a four- field Introduction to Anthropology, and the opportunity to develop courses in Human Health. The position will begin August 2018.

Qualifications: PhD in anthropology by the time of appointment, a proven track record in teaching, experience in ethnographic and qualitative research and scholarly publication will be given priority. The ability to teach a foundational course in Biological Anthropology is welcome. The applicant will also be expected to teach courses in their area of expertise. We have a preference for a broadly trained four-field medical anthropologist, who specializes in human health and whose concentration incorporates a focus on the implications for culture and health in relation to one or more of the following: environment, migration, reproductive health, mental health/trauma and resilience, chronic disease, health and human rights, and global epidemics. Geographic area is open but must complement existing expertise within the division. We place significant value on how health and inequality are shaped by race, class, gender, sexuality and citizenship.
