Position Description: The UGA College of Public Health invites applications and nominations for Head of the Department of Health Policy and Management. The successful candidate will assume a leadership role continuing to develop and grow the department and expand the College’s research, outreach, and instruction portfolio in health policy and management. Required qualifications are outlined in https://provost.uga.edu/_resources/documents/ UGA_Guidelines_for_APT_4_2017_online.pdf. This position is tenure-track and state funded (10 months). There is a high expectation of continuation or development of a robust, externally funded research portfolio. Rank and tenure will be based on the application and guided by the College of Public Health’s promotion and tenure guidelines.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an advanced degree (PhD, DrPH, or other relevant doctoral degree) in Health Policy, Health Management, or a related discipline and experience commensurate with appointment to the rank of associate professor or professor. Organization Description: . The Department is dynamic and growing, doubling its faculty size in the last three years, and anticipating hiring additional faculty in the upcoming year. The Department has also recently moved into new facilities at the UGA Health Sciences Campus. Department instruction responsibilities include an undergraduate minor, MPH concentration, and a newly revised DrPH program located at the UGA Gwinnett campus. (https://www.publichealth.uga.edu/hpam/) The mission of the College of Public Health is to promote health in human populations through innovative research, exemplary education, and engaged service dedicated to preventing disease and injury within the state and around the world (www.publichealth.uga.edu/). HPAM faculty members have leadership roles in, and close involvement with, four interdisciplinary units of the College: the Health Informatics Institute, the Institute for Disaster Management, the Institute of Gerontology, and the Global Health Institute. Close ties also exist with other university units including the School of Public and International Affairs, the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, the Institute for Behavioral Research, the School of Social Work, the College of Education, and the Terry College of Business.

The University of Georgia is ranked among the top 20 public universities in the U.S. and has been recognized as a research intensive and community engaged institution by the Carnegie Foundation. The College of Public Health was established in 2005 and is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The college currently has 60 tenure-track faculty and 240 total faculty and staff, including grant-funded research personnel and program coordinators.
