Position Description: The University of Southern Maine seeks applicants for the full-time, grant-funded position of Research Associate I: Health Communications located in Augusta. The Research Associate I (RAI) delivers health communication services provided under contract to the Environmental and Occupational Health Program (EOHP) within the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The RAI plans, implements, and evaluates statewide and targeted communication efforts for a variety of topics and audiences, using social marketing or other health communication frameworks and best practices as well as a variety of channels, including mass media, web-based, social media, interpersonal, and community channels. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, the promotion of the Maine Environmental Public Health Tracking Program, childhood lead poisoning prevention, and well water safety and testing. Required: • Master’s Degree in public health, communications, marketing, or other relevant field and two (2) years of relevant professional experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of relevant experience.

Preferred: • Professional experience in the fields of health communication or environmental health. • Knowledge related to childhood lead poisoning prevention and/or environmental public health tracking.
