Position Description: The Clinical Research Coordinator III (CRC III) functions independently within the Pediatric IDEAS (Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Stewardship) Research Group at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The CRC III is responsible for the complete coordination of assigned clinical research activities and may have supervisory responsibilities.

The CRC III is responsible for any of the following: • Applies in-depth knowledge of clinical research and independently coordinates the activities of 1 or more large-scale, complex multi-center retrospective and/or prospective studies • Under the guidance of the principal investigator(s), assists in the design, planning and execution of research studies in infectious diseases, critiquing protocol feasibility and providing recommendations • Organizes, cleans and analyzes data for multiple research studies using software applications including SAS and Stata • Contributes to the preparation and submission of manuscripts, presentations, grant applications and protocols • Provides oversight in the preparation, management and monitoring of study budgets • Accountable for study oversight at one or more sites/institutions including preparation for internal/external regulatory audits (sponsor, FDA, NIH, etc) • Manages human subjects/IRB submissions and documentation; • Conducts literature searches; performs data entry and data management • Facilitates and/or leads research/project team meetings • Educates and mentors internal and external clinical staff, research teams and other coordinators; provides resources, and consulting on difficult protocols or projects • Liaises between Research Finance and the research team • Participates in the informed consent process of study subjects • Screens, recruits and enrolls patients/research participants • Reports adverse events • Complies with Institutional policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines • Complies with federal, state, and sponsor policies • Attends regular research group meetings where all current and proposed projects will be discussed. There are also a number of opportunities for exposure to journal club, clinical conference, hospital rounds and other clinically and/or research related activities depending on the candidate’s professional interests.

Qualifications: • MA/MS in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field and 1+ year (s) relevant clinical research coordination experience • BA/BS in a related field & 5+ year(s) relevant clinical research coordination experience • Ability to conduct data analysis using programs such as SAS and/or Stata and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Access

Organization Description: The purpose of the Pediatric IDEAS Research Group is to perform rigorous clinical and translational research that generates evidence on the prevention and treatment of infections to inform best practices and improve the health of children, families, and communities.
