Position Description: The Academy is currently looking for a Research Intern to work with the Healthcare Services Research Team.

Job Summary: Healthcare Services Research Interns will assist in the conduct of several research studies analyzing how large healthcare systems manage healthcare delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities • Construct, normalize, and validate databases of health system operational, financial, and member information; • Assist with data analyses; • Collect and synthesize information from web, trade press, academic literature, etc.,; • Collect, organize and maintain research data and references; • Assist with building and deploying research surveys and study results; • Schedule and provide information and support for research interviews and site visits; • Other duties as assigned by the Research Manager.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Proficiency and familiarity with SPSS, Access, and/or other statistical analysis packages preferred; • Proficiency with Internet research websites and methods; • Detail-oriented and methodological with excellent organizational and analytical skills • Must have expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel, particularly with managing and filtering data quickly in spreadsheets • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required • Ability to check, scrub, merge, and/or recode data as needed to ensure clean analyses; • Ability to propose and experiment with different potential analyses; • General knowledge and interest in health care management and policy issues.

Education and Experience: • A minimum of 2 years of college required • Experience or interest in the healthcare industry preferred;

Hours Requirements and Compensation: • Up to 40 hours a week. Specific work schedule to be determined dependent on intern’s class load and project requirements. • This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible, paid internship, with option to be converted to full-time base on performance. The hourly rate for qualified undergraduate and graduate interns are $15 and $20, respectively.
