Position Description: The communicable disease epidemiologist studies the occurrence of disease and other health-related conditions or events in defined populations in order to implement prevention and control measures. The position works closely with the other staff in the unit to support epidemiology and surveillance, including electronic disease reporting, including HIV/AIDS/STD, Vaccine Preventable Diseases and other communicable conditions. Responsibilities include: 1) conducting statewide disease surveillance and investigation working closely with local health jurisdictions; 2) working with the surveillance systems supporting electronic disease reporting and public health case reporting and to improve data collection for surveillance, investigation and control measures; 3) developing and conducting various trainings related to epidemiological and program evaluation issues; and 4) designing and conducting program evaluations.

Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, S Statistics, or a closely related degree. • Three years of job related experience in e epidemiology. • Experience in communicable disease s surveillance Systems preferred along with k knowledge of data analytics software and r related languages. • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Preferred Qualifications • Experience in tuberculosis prevention and c control. • Experience in a clinical setting. • Federal grants management experience.
