Position Description: The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is recruiting for a Lead Chronic Disease Epidemiologist (Public Health Epidemiologist) to oversee the operations of the Chronic Disease Epidemiology team as the within the Office of Epidemiology, Section of Epidemiology for Public Health Practices. This is a highly responsible position that will lead epidemiologic and surveillance activities for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating population health data to inform, prioritize, and monitor the delivery of the interventions in heart disease and stroke prevention, diabetes, obesity, physical activity, nutrition, breastfeeding, and school health. In addition to providing analytical, program evaluation and epidemiological expertise to a wide range of programs within the Department the chronic disease epidemiology team is central to the operations of key surveillance systems such as the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), County Level Study (CLS), Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) and Missouri Cancer Registry (MCR). This position will directly supervise a Research Analyst IV, a Research Analyst III, a Planner II, a Band Manager I and is responsible for managing the daily operations of the chronic disease epidemiology team (budget, personnel, contracts etc.) as well as providing technical oversight and consultation. This position will report to the Chief, Office of Epidemiology and will require in state and out of state travel for grant related purposes. This position is located in Jefferson City, MO. Hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Flex time may be considered after successful completion of probation.

Qualifications: A Doctorate degree from an accredited school in Epidemiology, Public Health, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition/Dietetics, Psychology, Biostatistics, biological, social, or environmental sciences; and,

Two or more years of professional experience in epidemiology, health, mental health education, or public health research.

OR

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition/Dietetics, Biostatistics, Psychology, biological, environmental, or socials sciences and,

Five or more years of professional experience in epidemiology, including two or more years in a consultative and/or research capacity involving design of epidemiologic investigations/studies, study implementation, or analysis and reporting.
