Position Description: We are currently looking for a fellow to work with the Wallace Center for Maternal and Child Health on projects related to technology, the digital divide, and reproductive health. The Wallace Center seeks to harness innovative technologies (including sensors, apps and wearables for research and behavior change; information- seeking patterns and resources; and web- based Big Data) as a means of reducing MCH disparities. Projects of the Wallace Center include research using Google Trends data and qualitative research on technology use in low-income mothers. The fellow will have the opportunity to engage in research activities, acquire grant preparation skills, publish scholarly articles, advance their teaching skills, enhance presentation skills, and network in the broader MCH community. The fellowship supports salary, health insurance, coursework (if desired), research expenses, and travel to attend MCH professional meetings. Successful completion of the fellowship entails meeting learning objectives set by the fellow and faculty mentor.

Qualifications: Requirements include a doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology, or equivalent training with substantive knowledge of the science and programs relating to maternal, child and adolescent health. Applicants must have a strong interest in using new technologies to advance public health research and practice—experience analyzing search engine data is a plus. Candidates must possess strong quantitative skills, English writing and verbal skills, and an interdisciplinary orientation. Teaching experience preferred (may be as a teaching assistant).

Applicants must be US Citizens or hold Permanent Residents status.

Organization Description: The Wallace Center is a new center at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health. The Wallace center engages in innovative, evidence-based research aimed at creating healthier generations of women, mothers, children and families in the United States.

This is a two-year fellowships funded through the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice; a program of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau at HRSA. There is specific interest in recruiting individuals from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds in addition to disadvantaged backgrounds.
