Position Description: The Community Engagement Institute is excited to seek a Director for its Center for Public Health Initiatives (CPHI). As part of Wichita State University, the Community Engagement Institute (located at WSU Old Town) houses 6 centers and 2 initiatives. The Institute has over a 30 year history of being a highly collaborative, innovative work place that strives to exceed the needs of its community partners. As Director of CPHI, the qualified candidate will lead a team who work across a variety of projects for local and state partners. The Director will provide CPHI staff leadership and guidance, connect to other Center directors and staff, develop and nourish relationships with community partners, and help in developing new opportunities.

Qualifications: Minimum Experience •Five years of experience providing Public Health services through state, local or tribal government, community-based and/or nonprofit organizations or academic public health. •Demonstrated success working independently in project leadership roles. •Demonstrated success in developing the relationships needed to obtain, deliver and renew a variety of funding streams.

Knowledge, skills and abilities •Ability to collaboratively work with internal and external partners. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills. •Ability to facilitate large and small groups. •Ability to work with diverse populations. •Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the state. •Knowledge of the governmental public health system in Kansas and the US •Excellent project management skills •Project budget management experience

Organization Description: This position is housed within the Community Engagement Institute at Wichita State University. The goal of the Institute is to promote best practices in organizations and communities interested in improving people’s lives, as well as fostering connections with community partners looking to create positive change.
