Position Description: Masters-level epidemiologist or biostatistician to conduct and publish original epidemiological and health services research focusing on economic burden of cancer and cancer care outcomes. The work provides an exceptional opportunity for a highly-motivated candidate to gain broad experience in health care delivery research.

• Provide analytic and database management support for studies focusing on financial and economic burden of cancer and cancer care outcomes research. • Engage as an active collaborator in the development of research protocols including literature reviews, development of analytic databases including data linkage, conducting analyses, and writing manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals. • Document analytic programs and results in an organized, dated, and clearly labeled form for future reference. • Respond to health services research related inquiries from other components of ACS, the public and the media. • Develop in-depth understanding of uses and limitations of databases commonly used in health services research, including Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, National Health Interview Survey, SEER-Medicare, and others. • Develop proficiency in relevant software including SAS. • Prepare tables and figures for scientific presentations using Excel, PowerPoint, and Origin. • Proofread reports for publication and presentation at professional meetings. • Encouraged to participate in peer- reviewed publications and to conduct self- initiated research projects. • Candidate must have a close attention to detail and must be able to work well both independently and in teams.

Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Public Health, Health Services Research, Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or related field. • Two or more years of experience in statistical/analytical work, preferably in a public health or research environment.

SKILLS: • Interest in health economics and surveillance research. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and excellent organizational and communication skills. • Knowledge of statistical methodology and software, including survival analysis, logistic regression, Differences-in- difference analysis, SEER-Medicare, and SAS (macro, sql, ods, stat). • Knowledge of health economics, health services research, Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, National Health Interview Survey, SEER-Medicare and other sources of data for research on financial/economic burden of cancer preferred.
