Job Title: Intern at School-Based Health Alliance
Job Number:
Organization: School-Based Health Alliance
Posted: 8/10/2017
Type: Internship
Classification: Public Health - General
Industry: Non Profit / NGO
Number of Openings: 1
Location: Washington,  DC    USA
Compensation: $15/hour
Position Description: The School-Based Heath Alliance (the Alliance) seeks a talented and motivated intern to assist with the 2016-17 National School-Based Health Care Census (“the Census”). The Census is a national survey collected by the Alliance, which captures information about school-based health care (SBHC) programs including demographics, staffing, health services and prevention activities, policies, utilization, and financing. The data is used to track national trends, demonstrate the impact and reach of SBHC programs nationwide, and inform advocacy and expansion efforts.

The intern will support various aspects of data collection, analysis, and reporting. Activities will include outreach to survey respondents to encourage survey completion, monitoring data collection, cleaning and analyzing the final dataset using Excel and statistical packages, and supporting the development of the final report. This is a great opportunity for students interested in gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced growing nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities: The intern will: • Conduct outreach to survey respondents and administer the Census via phone to interested participants • Support final database clean up and analysis, using Microsoft Excel and R/SPSS • Develop a slide deck with survey results • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions

This is a part-time internship to start October 1, 2017, approximately 25-30 hours per week. Hours are flexible, and could include some telework.

The intern will be a member of the Research and Evaluation Team and supervised by Nirmita Panchal, our Research and Evaluation Manager.

Qualifications: The Alliance was founded in 1995 and is the national voice for school-based health care (SBHC) programs. SBHC programs are health centers that provide comprehensive care to predominantly underserved children and adolescents in a setting that is trusted, familiar, and immediately accessible: their school. SBHC programs provide care – primary health, behavioral health and counseling, family outreach, and chronic illness management – without concern for the student’s ability to pay. The Alliance advocates for national, state and local policies, programs, and funding to expand and strengthen SBHC programs, while also supporting the movement with training and technical assistance.
