Position Description: Assistant Professor Faculty Position in the Division of Biostatistics and Health Services Research

Qualifications: The applicant is expected to have a PhD in biostatistics and at least 4 years experience providing consultative and collaborative biostatistical expertise to epidemiologic research. The ideal applicant will have strong communication skills necessary to successful engage in the biostatistical training of master's and doctoral students. The candidate will be expected to spend 50% time teaching foundational biostatistics concepts collaboratively with epidemiologists and advanced biostatistics methods course in survival analysis and longitudinal data analysis. Expertise analyzing epidemiological cohort studies preferred. The position will be equally split between educational and research activities. Fifty percent effort will be spent on educational activities such as teaching and mentoring students at the master's and doctoral level activities and participating in education-related committees. Fifty percent time will be devoted to participating in the Quantitative Methods Core {E.g. providing biostatistical consultations, assisting with research applications, providing support and participating in manuscripts, offering methodological innovation and expertise to complement the faculty applied research).

Organization Description: QHS was founded in June, 2009 and currently has over 30 faculty members distributed across 4 Divisions: Biostatistics and Health Services Research; Epidemiology of Chronic Disease and Vulnerable Populations; Health Informatics and Implementation Science; and Outcomes Measurement Science. QHS is also the home for the doctoral program in Clinical and Population Health Research, and of a methodology consultation and service unit, the Quantitative Methods Core. QHS faculty are Principal Investigators on extramural grants totaling over $30 million. UMass is a collaborative and dynamic institution on a rapidly ascending trajectory. UMass received a Clinical and Translation Science Award in 2010 and the Worcester campus currently receives more than $250 million dollars in annual extramural funding. QHS is a key driver of clinical and translational research at UMass.
