JOB SUMMARY In alignment with the vision and mission of the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion Unit and under direct supervision of the Unit's Program Manager, this position will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the agency's tobacco prevention and control initiative funded by the Illinois Tobacco Free Communities (ITFC) grant and aligned with state and national goals. Specifically, this position will provide programmatic leadership and direction, as well as administrative management, to ensure successful implementation of the initiative. This will include, but is not limited to, ensuring ITFC objectives are met and reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner; providing direct supervision to three staff; facilitating management systems that promote communication, coordination and accountability; and fostering strategic partnerships that will support implementation, evaluation and sustainability of the initiative. ITFC supports implementation of interventions leading to policy, systems and environmental changes that reduce tobacco use and exposure.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Public Administration or Social Work from an accredited college or university. • Five (5) years of postgraduate progressive experience in community-based public health is required. Experience must include demonstration of program planning, development, implementation, evaluation and alliance building (collaborations). • Three (3) years of experience with advancing policy, systems and environmental changes that promotes health. • One (1) year of supervisory or project management experience is required. • One (1) year of experience with grant management. • One (1) year of experience with tobacco prevention and control. • Must obtain ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications within six months. • Position requires moderate local travel for which employee must provide a valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation.
