Position Description: The Office of Public Health Informatics and Analytics within the Department of Health is seeking an epidemiologist with experience conducting data analyses to work as a member of the Prescription Drug Overdose Team. The ideal candidate is collaborative, enthusiastic, takes initiative, and can follow projects through to completion. The position requires strong analytic skills to complete public health reports, research and program goals in a collaborative team environment. Experience working with health- related data and a strong commitment to maintaining high quality data is required. Demonstrated experience using SAS or R for data analysis is required. Responsibilities include: • Contribute to efforts to ensure that data standards are developed and maintained and assists in the review of study data for data quality • Generates data and reports using public health indicators related to prescription drug epidemiology, and analyzes trends and patterns by key descriptors (e.g., age and geographic regions). • Support visualization of data using various approaches to enable identification of inconsistent data patterns and data quality concerns, and for public health results reporting • Contribute to data documentation, protocols, analytic plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings applying epidemiologic methods and best practices in public health science • Conduct literature reviews of scientific articles, public health reports, and medical literature and summarize relevant information • As part of a collaborative, multi- disciplinary team environment, design and conduct epidemiologic studies and conduct data analyses using various descriptive and statistical modeling approaches.

Qualifications: Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate's degree in epidemiology. OR Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate's degree in medicine (MD), osteopathic medicine (DO), veterinarian medicine (DVM) public health, biostatistics, statistics, health informatics health sciences, biomedical sciences or environmental sciences with experience equivalent to two years' work experience in epidemiology.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in public health or an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Fellowship may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years. OR Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics, or health informatics with experience equivalent to four year's work experience in epidemiology.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional studies with an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Fellowship may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.

OR

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in health science, biomedical science or environmental science with experience equivalent to six year's work experience in epidemiology.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional studies with an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Fellowship may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.

Degrees must be from an accredited college or university. A transcript evaluation is required for degrees earned outside of the United States.
