IHRC, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients.    The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of IHRC, Inc., and will be assigned to the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch (WDPB), Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Disease (DFWED), National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), at the CDC, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA, to provide support for the WDPB.

SCOPE OF WORK    

The Health Communication Specialist will develop and implement effective communication strategies and an effective education program for the WDPB.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and produce communication and education materials for a variety of audiences to support preparedness and response to water-related emergencies and outbreaks
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to identify audience needs and ensure messages achieve communication objectives
  • Develop and execute dissemination plans for messages and materials to ensure distribution through appropriate channels to reach target audiences.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s in Public Health (MPH) with emphasis on communication or BA or Masters in Communications with significant experience developing health/science content

Required:

  • Media relations experience and media strategy consulting
  • Experience with scientific communications, preferably public health
  • Experience with Media product/channel development
  • Experience with stakeholder management
  • Strong collaborative focus

Desirable:

  • Previous CDC experience

Language Skills:

  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English   

REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States

SALARY:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience
