Position Description: The Peterson Center on Healthcare is a non- profit organization dedicated to making higher quality, more affordable healthcare a reality for all Americans. Established by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, the organization collaborates with stakeholders across the healthcare system and engages in grant-making, partnerships, and research.

Job Purpose: Reporting to Analytics and Learning team, in New York, NY, the Performance Associate will design and manage the use of data in measuring performance and improvement of primary care practices participating in the Center’s Transforming Primary Care initiative.

Job Description: Specific responsibilities include: • Design a change logic and performance benchmarks for the Center’s primary care performance improvement process • Align practice-level measurement with health system priorities and existing reports • Design and support the integration of cost data into regular performance reports • Facilitate physicians’ and administrators’ use of data, analytics, and performance principles in their performance improvement efforts • Quality assure data analysis and performance facilitation in participating health systems • Quality assure cost and utilization data exports from health data vendors • Design visual presentation and facilitate use of practice profiles that incorporate critical dimensions of performance improvement (e.g. cost of care, quality measures, clinician engagement, patient satisfaction, business viability, ROI) • Build feedback loops for the Center’s performance analysis in its primary care implementation work

Skills and Attributes: The ideal candidate will have: • Understanding of key principles and methods of healthcare improvement science (e.g. behavior change and PDSAs) • Ability to create process control charts and run charts • Demonstrated capability in performance and data analysis • Experience in facilitating quality improvement discussions using data, with a focus on making data actionable and relevant to providers and administrators • Experience and interest in evaluation sciences and designing measurement sets • Ability to master data collection challenges in a healthcare setting • Understanding of Health Partner's total cost of care measure and HEDIS quality measures • Detail-oriented approach, be personable and entrepreneurial

Qualifications: • 3-5 years in data analysis, preferably working with clinical data • Experience with CPT billing codes, claims data, and/or financial data • 2+ years of experience with performance and evaluation sciences and healthcare improvement science • 1+ years of experience conducting qualitative user experience research and analyses • Experience managing outside vendors • Experience in U.S. healthcare highly desired • Masters in Public Health, Healthcare Management, or a relevant field with a focus on performance and evaluation sciences
