Position Description: Microbiologist position is available with B Berry Technology at the Centers for Disease C Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.

Must have experience with standard molecular biology techniques (automated nucleic acid extraction, PCR, real-time PCR, RFLP, Sanger and NGS) and operation of complex instrumentation [ABI 3100xl, NGS platforms (MiSeq desired), Agilent Bioanalyzer]. Must be proficient with common laboratory practices within a microbiology laboratory, including real-time PCR platforms, molecular assay d assay design, a variety nucleic acid automat automated systems, isolation and culturing techniq techniques, complex data analysis and interpr interpretation, writing clear SOPs for perform performing technical laboratory procedures, in addi in addition to understanding and adhering to strict strict laboratory safety standards and laborat laboratory practices. Must be able to prepare detailed and accura accurate protocols, accessible records of experi experimental data, and present findings in labora laboratory meetings and branch seminars. Must work collaboratively with other team membe members and international partner laboratory perso personnel to support activities and maintain compl compliance with quality management and biosa biosafety requirements Must be able to monitor assay performance thro through external quality assessments and prov provide technical support and consultation to i to international partner laboratories as need needed. Must be able to develop specialized mol molecular assays and reagents for res respiratory viruses for deployment to and ser serves as a technical authority for int international partner laboratories. Must be able to perform supervised di diagnostic tests on human clinical specimens to to support outbreak investigations and et etiologic and disease burden studies. Must be able to maintain meticulous e electronic and paper records of laboratory a activities
