Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) to assist in their national search for an engaging and transparent operations leader to assume the position of Chief Program Officer (CPO) to lead across this premier and comprehensive public health institute. The CPO role is a newly created leadership role for PHMC. PHMC has nearly 2,500 employees, 350 programs, 13 subsidiaries, 70 sites and close to 350,000 clients served annually. PHMC has become one of the largest and more innovative public health organizations in the nation. Partnering with the CEO and Chief Operating Officer (PHMC is in a concurrent search for this newly created role), the CPO will work to further strengthen, develop and integrate PHMC’s community programs and subsidiaries in efforts to best serve the public through increasingly growing programs.
Reporting directly to PHMC’s President and CEO, Richard J. Cohen, and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the CPO will have the overall responsibility for managing PHMC’s community programs, affiliations and subsidiaries. The new CPO will also play a key role in supporting the continued growth and development of affiliates, as well identifying new lines of business and for creating additional sources of funding. The CPO will partner with the COO to coordinate the essential PHMC corporate Central Support Services or “back office” resources needed to support the organization’s vision to integrate the community programs.
This will be a visible leadership role which requires a program leader who is highly engaging, relationship-oriented and quality driven. The CPO will need to be highly communicative, innovative and will bring rigor around program integration and collaborative management.
We are seeking an outstanding leader who has an entrepreneurial orientation with significant business and program development leadership experience. The CPO must be an accountable, transparent and contemporary leader, who has a track record of managing programs or service lines with an ability to attract, mentor and collaborate with program directors and other team members. The successful candidate will want to come to PHMC because he or she believes in providing for the community and strengthening collaborative partnerships with the organization’s affiliates/business partners and those PHMC directly serves.
