Position Description: Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) to assist in their national search for an engaging and transparent operations leader to assume the position of Chief Operating Officer to lead across this premier and comprehensive public health institute. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity to join a passionate and dedicated team that strives to build healthier communities through the various partnerships that exist within government, foundations, businesses and community-based organizations. PHMC has nearly 2,500 employees, 350 programs, 13 subsidiaries, 70 sites and close to 350,000 clients served annually. PHMC has become one of the largest and more innovative public health organizations in the nation. Partnering with the CEO and Chief Program Officer (PHMC is in a concurrent search for this newly created role), the COO will work to further develop, as well as integrate PHMC’s corporate operational resources to provide the necessary tools needed to ensure a smooth transition for patients transitioning between programs within the community.

Reporting directly to PHMC’s President and CEO, Richard J. Cohen, and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, the COO will have the overall responsibility for the operational infrastructure of PHMC. The new COO will play a key role in supporting the organization’s mission to serve the community and assist in the strategic vision to further develop and integrate the institute’s operational infrastructure. The COO will also be responsible for the management of the institute’s Central Support Services (CSS) or back-office corporate operations that will support the activities taken within PHMC’s programs and subsidiaries, as well as ensure overall quality operations throughout the organization.

This will be a visible leadership role which requires an operations leader who is highly engaging, results-oriented and quality driven. The COO will need to be highly communicative, innovative and will bring rigor around program integration and execution and collaborative management.

We are seeking an outstanding leader who has significant management and operational leadership experience. The COO must be an accountable, transparent and contemporary leader who has a track record of managing operations with an ability to attract, mentor and collaborate with team members. The successful candidate will want to come to PHMC because he or she believes in providing for the community and strengthening collaborative partnerships with the organization’s affiliates/business partners and those PHMC directly serves.
