Position Description: DPHHS Communicable Disease Epidemiology is hiring for two Epidemiologist positions. One is responsible for for managing the Tuberculosis Control Program and one will serve as the Healthcare Associated Infection program manager. The communicable disease epidemiologist studies the occurrence of disease and other health-related conditions or events in defined populations in order to implement prevention and control measures with federal grant management responsibilities. Arboviral diseases will comprise a part of one of the two position’s resp responsibilities.

Both positions work closely with the other staff in the unit to support epidemiology and surveillance, including electronic disease reporting. Responsibilities include: 1) conducting statewide disease surveillance, investigation working closely with local health jurisdictions; 2) working with the surveillance systems supporting electronic disease reporting and public health case reporting and to improve data collection for surveillance, investigation and control measures; 3) developing and conducting various trainings related to epidemiological and program evaluation issues; and 4) designing and conducting program evaluations.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, o or a closely related degree. •Three years of job related experience in e epidemiology. •Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Preferred Qualifications •Experience in tuberculosis prevention and c control, or healthcare associated infection p programs. •Experience in a clinical setting.

Additional Information: These positions work closely with other staff in the Communicable Disease Epidemiology Section. Montana is a decentralized state with the state program working closely with 58 local health jurisdictions to provided technical assistance as it relates to surveillance, investigation and mitigation. This is a team like atmosphere and staff must be able to communicate clearly and congenially with local health jurisdiction staff with varying levels of experience.
