Position Description: The Health Promotion and Genomics Lab ( in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University is looking for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct social and behavioral science research projects in Public Health Genomics and Cancer Prevention. The HPG lab currently has one Postdoctoral Research Associate, four Ph.D. students, five master students, and several undergraduate and graduate level student workers. Successful candidate will assist in various tasks including literature review, study design, survey questions development, quantitative and qualitative data collection, statistical analysis, manuscripts/reports writing, Website and Online course development, student workers' supervision, and working with the Project Director (Dr. Lei-Shih Chen, Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology) for coordinating and managing relevant projects as well as other duties as assigned (e.g., coordinate partner community health worker (CHW) training programs/centers to host workshops for CHWs, pilot test the training curriculum, prepare workshop training materials, call workshop CHW participants to collect follow-up survey data, answering CHWs’ phone calls, set-up interactive voice response survey, and deal with payment issues). This appointment is supported by an external funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits will be provided. The selected candidate will be appointed for two years. Reappointment will be subject to continuation of external funding.

Qualifications: Required Education and Experience:

1. Ph.D. in public health, psychology, sociology, and anthropology related fields.

2. Strong quantitative and qualitative data collection, management, and analysis skills.

3. Excellent scientific writing skills.

4. Excellent computer abilities and language skills in English.

5. Being able to travel/drive to multiple sites in Texas.

6. Being able to work for two years.

7. Excellent communication skills and be able to work as a team player.

8. Being detailed-oriented and patient.

9. Ability to perform several tasks concurrently and have good time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications (but not required):

1. Experience in grant management and having prior work experience in grant- funded projects.

2. Excellent language skills in Spanish.

3. Being a certified community health worker (CHW) or CHW instructor (CHWI).
