Position Description: Acadiana CARES, in conjunction with the LDH / Office of Public Health/ STD/HIV Program, is seeking applicants for a Field Surveillance Supervisor position based in New Orleans to supervise field surveillance/chart abstractor staff located throughout the state. This position will be responsible for working with medical providers to ensure complete reporting of HIV throughout the state. This position will assist field surveillance staff with completing case report forms through site visits to medical facilities, phone calls, and electronic medical record reviews. In addition, this position will query databases, manage work load of field surveillance staff, complete quality checks on surveillance work, and provide training to surveillance staff. This position requires travel throughout Louisiana.

Qualifications: Candidates for the position should hold a Bachelor’s Degree and/or have a minimum of five years’ experience in a health care or social services setting. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Computer literacy and excellent communication skills required. Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical records, knowledge of HIV, previous work in a medical office environment, and/or experience in public health disease surveillance are preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
