Position Description: The Wildlife Epidemiology and Population Health team at HBOI/FAU is seeking a research scientist/statistical analyst. The Epidemiology Statistical Analyst will be involved in the daily research activities of the program, which include a diverse portfolio of projects.

Activities may include but are not limited to the following: Data management and statistical analysis of multiple biological, environmental and health databases; statistical analysis and written reports of research findings for publication; review of literature pertinent to a variety of research projects; field surveys for collection of biological specimens across multiple species; recruit and interface with subjects for ongoing projects on human health.

May also participate in response to marine mammal strandings and laboratory procedures.

Conduct field collection and coordination of data and samples including both human and wildlife based studies. Participant recruitment in compliance with Institutional Review Board protocols is required.

Analyze statistical data and report for research related activities as directed.

Perform office work, record keeping and data entry under the direction of the supervisor.

Pathology related duties include the proper collection, documentation and archiving of tissues for both diagnostic and research purposes.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in the areas of biological science, public health, statistics or environmental science and one year of appropriate experience required. One year of experience including one of the following areas is required: Microsoft Office programs (such as Word, Outlook, Access, Excel) and conducting statistical analysis using appropriate software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R).

Master's degree in one of the above areas is preferred.

Basic laboratory skills are required.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a team member or independently required.

Must also be detail-oriented and have the ability to multitask across project areas.

One year of experience assisting with research on human and/or wildlife population health preferred.
