Position Description: The Early Intervention Program is an interagency program that supports infants with developmental delays to realize their full potential.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

--Act as the Assistant Commissioner's designee, representing the Bureau at internal and external meetings addressing issues such as Bureau-specific operations and initiatives, as well as Departmental promotion of early childhood development.

--Conduct research and analysis on subjects such as best practices and model programs in early childhood development, and monitor new legislation, regulations, etc. impacting early childhood programs and initiatives. Write summaries and present briefings to the Assistant Commissioner.

--Develop familiarity with NYS and NYC Early Intervention legislation and regulations as well as policies and procedures. Support executive staff in reviewing new guidance, legislation, and regulations, and drafting briefs and recommendations.

--Coordinate or participate in special Bureau and Division projects, particularly those that focus on promotion of early childhood development. Develop strong working relationships with colleagues throughout the Bureau, Division and Department, identifying areas for collaboration.

--Review Bureau data reports, and collaborate with analytic staff to identify data sources to help in planning new policies and initiatives. Write briefs outlining quantitative findings and explaining the implications for new projects and practices.

--Work collaboratively with multiple units in the Bureau to ensure that priority projects are advanced.

Qualifications: A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.

Preferred Skills

The preferred candidate will possess strong organizational, analytical and problem- solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal, research, written and oral communication skills are required. Master's degree in Public Health, Public Administration or other relevant graduate degree and experience in administration or project coordination in human services, health care or children's programs a plus.
