Position Description: With direction from the epidemiologist III team leader, performs advanced (senior- level) investigative and consultative epidemiological work in the Emerging and Acute Infectious Disease branch related to vaccine preventable diseases (VPD). Collects and analyzes, interprets, and distributes epidemiological data on VPD in Texas. May supervise the work of others in data collection. Provides telephonic and electronic technical consultation to public health professionals, healthcare providers, and the general public on the epidemiology of VPD and assists these partners in outbreak investigations. Prepares public health information, training materials, and investigative tools for surveillance and investigation. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

Qualifications: A master’s degree with a focus in epidemiology or biostatistics and = 2 years’ work experience in epidemiology in a public health agency OR An undergraduate degree in public health, biostatistics, or biological sciences supplemented with = 4 years’ epidemiology or infectious disease investigation work experience in a public health agency OR Other non epidemiology professional degree or certification (e.g., RN, MD/DO, DDS/DMD, DVM, PhD, RS) and = 2 years’ epidemiology or infectious disease investigation work experience in a public health agency
