In collaboration with the Director, this position has primary responsibility for providing technical direction to TEPHINET programming. The incumbent’s duties will include supporting strategic planning, identifying and developing partnerships to advance TEPHINET’s strategic goals, strengthening and maintaining positive relationships with regional networks and Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs), and providing guidance and technical oversight to TEPHINET projects in collaboration with the project managers. S/he will draft technical input for TEPHINET fundraising proposals and will build and maintain strong relationships with the major funding partners including CDC and the Skoll Foundation. This position remains informed of TEPHINET site visits and is consulted on site visit agendas and results, as appropriate and deemed necessary by the Director.
Identifies potential funders and funding opportunities aligned with TEPHINET’s strategic goals. Explores and develops partnerships within the Task Force, the U.S. public health community, and within target countries that support the advancement of TEPHINET’s strategic goals. Conceptualizes and drafts technical input to business development proposals.
In collaboration with the project managers, coordinates with funding partners to prepare technical content of continuing applications for CDC cooperative agreement funding. Monitors achievement of project goals through review of technical reports, site visits, etc. Provides technical advice and input to staff including project managers and communication specialist.
Network Support and Coordination
Communicates with FETPs, conveying information, providing guidance and technical support as able. Coordinates FETP support with regional networks Participates as a member of the scientific committee for TEPHINET conferences which will involve abstract review, agenda development, speaker identification, etc.
Participates fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by Task Force management.
Master’s with background in epidemiology, public health or related field. 5 years’ experience in strategic planning, program development, program management for international health programs at the senior level. Ability to think conceptually, strategically, organizationally, and analytically and develop pragmatic solution to complex problems. Experience working with public health professionals in developing countries. Experience working with U.S. government agencies. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent written and verbal English skills. Fluency in Spanish or French a plus.
