Position Description: The Snohomish Health District is currently accepting resumes for a Public Health Nurse. This recruitment is open to all qualified candidates and will be used to build a list of applicants eligible for Public Health Nurse (PHN) vacancies. PHNs will provide direct care and health promotion services for individuals, families and community groups in any of the District provided services such as; Vaccine Preventable Disease Outreach, First Steps, Children with Special Healthcare Needs, Early Intervention, Maternal Child Health, Communicable Disease Surveillance and Response, Child Care Health, Tuberculosis Control, Refugee Screening

CURRENT VACANCY: PHN with the Parent Child Health Program, 1.0 FTE. The incumbent will perform a variety of public health nursing activities related to parent child health to address health issues and disparities impacting populations and individuals. Activities include advocacy, assessment, policy development, partnerships, communications, education and problem solving. The nurse will have working knowledge of public health nursing practices and concepts of disease epidemiology, prevention and health promotion regarding individuals, families and targeted populations. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Registered Nurse with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. One year of recent, relevant experience in community based services or public/community health nursing.

Organization Description: The Snohomish Health District was created in 1959 as an independent special purpose district responsible for public health in Snohomish County. We are separate from Snohomish County government, although it provides financial support and is an essential partner in many functions.

Our main office is located in Everett, in the Rucker Building, which we own . We also have leased clinic space in Lynnwood. Directions.

A 15-member Board of Health oversees policy and budget development for the local health district. All five Snohomish County Council members sit on the Board of Health, together with 10 city council members or mayors representing the cities and towns. Public meetings of the Board of Health are held monthly.

Gary Goldbaum, MD, MPH, serves as the director and health officer of the Snohomish Health District. Peter M. Mayer is the deputy director and chief operating officer.

The Snohomish Health District provides a wide range of programs and services that protect and promote the public health with particular focus on preventing injury and disease. As government funding for public health has been reduced since the recession of 2008, we have worked to focus our programs and resources on public health essentials and community needs.

Mission: To improve the health of individuals, families and communities through disease prevention, health promotion and protection from environmental threats. ? Foundational public health services, an ongoing effort to identify, prioritize and fund essential public health services for every county in Washington.
