Position Description: JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges. Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research. Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.

May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web- based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues. May work with clinical study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards. Assists with data collection and data analysis. Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings. May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives. May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications: An MPH in behavioral sciences, global health, or another discipline that addresses qualitative health research or substantial experience in qualitative research. Skills relating to coding, qualitative software, and manuscript preparation and writing are required. Previous work experiences in HIV prevention research; qualitative data collection and coordination; NIH-or CDC-supported research studies, especially among MSM.

Organization Description: This position will support PRISM Health, a research team that focuses on sexual minority health, consisting of 8 faculty members and over 35 staff within the Department of Epidemiology and Emory Center for AIDS Research.

We are seeking a motivated candidate with experience in qualitative research, including implementation and data analysis, to lead a qualitative team at Emory University for two NIH-supported longitudinal cohort studies. These cohort studies are focused on the health of young, African-American MSM in the Southern US. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating components of the qualitative research, including management of a team of graduate research assistants in conducting data collection and coding of transcripts. The candidate will also be responsible for contributing to analysis and publication of results, including serving as co-author or lead on several manuscripts.
