Position Description: The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is looking for a well-organized person to coordinate the activities of the Active Bacterial Core Surveillance (ABCs) Section of the New Mexico Emerging Infection Program (EIP). EIP is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) active surveillance system in 10 sites across the country that is roughly representative of the entire population of the USA. The goal of ABCs laboratory-based surveillance is improved prevention and control of certain invasive bacterial diseases, including Group a Streptococcus (GAS), Group B Streptococcus (GBS), Haemophilus-influenzae, Neisseria meningitides, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Each case in New Mexico is investigated to gather patient specific public health data and sent to CDC for laboratory studies and antimicrobial resistance identification. This position will work with ABC Investigator, EIP data management staff and data gathering surveillance officers to coordinate ABCs in New Mexico. To facilitate the EIP in New Mexico, incumbent will serve as liaison to the University of New Mexico, and the national EIP network, including CDC and other CDC funded EIP sites. This position will perform special studies that may include targeting specific high-risk populations, vaccine effectiveness and other projects that NMDOH and the national EIP develop in the future.

This position is a Pay Band 75.

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Science, Social Sciences, and/or Statistics and two (2) years of experience in Public Health to include data analysis and linking methodology.
