ANTICIPATED START DATE: Two weeks after candidate is identified



IHRC, Inc. provides scientific, information management and administrative program support to various Centers, Institutes and Offices of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under several contracts.  The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of IHRC, Inc., and will be assigned to the Division of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP) at CDC’s Chamblee Campus, Buford Hwy, Atlanta, Georgia.


The IHRC employee will independently provide administrative and program support services to satisfy the overall administrative operational objectives for the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP).


  • Arrange local meetings and site visits, coordinating with CDC scientists, other governmental agencies, universities, and other institutions.
  • Make reservations, arrange for audiovisual equipment, prepare and distribute meeting handouts, and arrange for other meeting support personnel or materials to be available.
  • Respond to telephone requests and visitors, referring calls and visitors to appropriate staff.
  • Control mail and ensure timely staff response.
  • Review materials for typographical accuracy and proper format in preparation for manager’s approval.
  • Prepare and maintain recurring reports, such as time and leave records, office equipment listings, correspondence controls, and training plans.
  • Maintain manager’s appointment calendar, using manual or automated processes, schedules appointments independently, reminds the manager of meetings, briefs the manager on the subject matter prior to the meeting.
  • Enter conference announcements into the ICAP system for staff to attend conferences, workshops, seminars, and annual meetings.
  • Prepare office supply requests and keep inventory of supplies needed. Forward requests to the appropriate office for processing.
  • Prepare printing requests.
  • Maintain office files.
  • Screen incoming correspondence and route to appropriate personnel.
  • Make domestic and foreign travel arrangements for staff personnel. Ascertain best schedule based on knowledge of preferences, identifying the most convenient and economical flight available, and following up to confirm the arrangements.
  • Ensure that information is supplied to CIO staff offices sufficiently in advance to allow time for preparation of paperwork.
  • Prepare and process travel orders and vouchers.
  • Using time and attendance reporting system, maintain and review time and attendance records. Forward them to the appropriate office for processing.



Education and Experience:

  • High school degree with 5+ years' experience, or Associate's Degree (AA) with 2+ years' experience, or Bachelor's Degree (BA) with 1+ years' experience - MPH entry level also considered.
  • Excellent self-motivation and productivity
  • Successful experience balancing a range of demands in a fast-moving environment
  • Keys to success: Organization, Follow-up, Accuracy, and the Ability to pull together complex steps into an organized process.


  • Experience supporting public health programs - 2 or more years of CDC experience preferred
  • Chronic disease background (particularly heart disease)

Language Skills:

  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English   


  • Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States
